My Story

Hi I’m Kate and I’m the owner, designer and maker of her indigo.

her indigo. developed out of my passion for block printed fabrics and scarves. I decided about 4 years ago that I wanted to create beautiful scarves out of beautiful block printed fabrics. So that’s what I did.

I have since expanded my range of products to also include cushions, tableware and bags.

My business her indigo. is home based, I live in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW Australia. I design and make all my products myself in my sunroom.

I ethically source most of my block printed fabrics from India and I am constantly seeking new wonderful fabrics to add to my collection. I focus on 100% cotton and prefer to source fabrics that have not only been hand printed but also hand dyed using natural dyes and hand woven.

I make a very limited quantity of each design. A lot are one offs and I like to use my fabric remnants where possible especially for my zippered purse and coaster ranges. I want my products to have a handmade bespoke feel. Slow fashion and homewares is my philosophy. I love creating custom items for clients. I really enjoy the teamwork involved and the brainstorming of ideas and designs to create that perfect bespoke piece for a client or my client’s special recipient.

From the start to finish the process of Indian artisans hand printing, dying, weaving their fabrics, through to me designing and making my her indigo. products, there is nothing but handmade (and love!) involved.
